A Picturesque Village
The Miners Way
Arigna is the starting point for The Miners Way & Historical Trail, a network of walking paths which wind their way through the beautiful countryside and follow the paths used by the Miners going to work in the Arigna Coal Mines. The Miners Way also forms part of The Ireland Way or Slí na h’Eireann.
Home of the last working coal mines in Ireland
It also has a wider community of families, houses and townlands that stretch across three neighbouring counties – Roscommon, Leitrim and Sligo. It is steeped
in history and folklore, and was the last working coal mine in Ireland.
